Local Research Networks
Each network employs a dedicated team of research nurses and staff in NHS Trusts to facilitate research on the ground. Networks work collaboratively to:
- Provide advice for researchers on how to make their study feasible and aligned with NHS priorities.
- Identify suitable NHS sites and recruit participants to studies.
- Actively involve patients and carers in all parts of the research process.
- Link with clinical and research support services in their local areas; including charities, patient support groups, other networks, etc.
In partnership with the NIHR Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRNs), DeNDRoN has established seven Dementia Specialty Groups to improve support for dementia research in areas where LRNs do not exist. Four Specialty Groups have been established: West Midlands, Yorkshire, South East and Trent, with two CLRNs Leicestershire and Surrey aligning with LRNs.

The DeNDRoN Coordinating Centre coordinates the development of DeNDRoN LRNs with both other topic-specific LRNs in England and relevant research networks in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
